In addition to placing local volunteers in meaningful opportunities within Volunteers of America’s many programs, our Volunteer Services department also serves as the community-wide coordinating body for volunteers wishing to serve in the continued hurricane recovery efforts throughout the region. These opportunities include home construction, beatification and cleanup projects, and assisting in other disaster recovery efforts throughout Greater New Orleans.

In partnership with United Way and the Greater New Orleans Disaster Recovery Partnership, we have placed more than 20,000 volunteers in the region since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, assisting more than 100 organizations in moving forward the area’s recovery efforts.

With the blessing of continued support from volunteers around the globe we strive to serve the community's needs through referrals and placements within meaningful service opportunities throughout the region. With our commitment to identifying the ever-evolving service opportunities, Volunteers of America is uniquely poised to ensure maximum impact through its volunteer placement efforts.

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. ... You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love."

Martin Luther King, Jr.
