adoptive family.jpg From our Adoption and Maternity Program to interventions for at-risk youth, Volunteers of America has evolved over the decades to provide services for children and families in need in south Louisiana. Post-Katrina, these programs are more important than ever to help children and families cope with loss, displacement and stress.
Though Betty Irving lost all in the storm, she still finds time to mentor. Irving is a volunteer in our Mentoring Children of Promise program, which reaches out to youngsters with incarcerated parents. Children with incarcerated parents are innocent, but they face tough challenges.
