Volunteers always have been essential to fulfilling the mission of Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans. Since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita volunteer support has greatly increased throughout the region. While the needs are continuously evolving they remain ever-present, as the ongoing recovery is far from complete. Read some Volunteer Profiles. |
Our organization serves as the community-wide coordinator for volunteers helping with the recovery. If you are a local or out-of-town individual or group seeking to help with hurricane recovery, we can find meaningful opportunities for you. We have placed more than 20,000 volunteers in the region since the storm.
Adults, youth, seniors and groups are welcome to volunteer with Volunteers of America programs. Whatever your interests, skills or available time, we have a volunteer opportunity suitable for you in a variety of program areas.
Volunteers assist with recovery efforts, work with the disabled, assist case managers, help at-risk youth and work in our offices. Most persons begin volunteering to help others, but continue to volunteer because of the benefits it brings to their own lives.
